When Dixon wants to ask permission for something, he looks at me and asks, "yeah, Mama?" while imitating what is is he wants to do. I've always appreciated this because it helps him to communicate despite his speech limitations. Yesterday I was moving shelves. I was over-dramatizing the effort in an attempt to make Dixon laugh. His response? He looked at me and asked, "Shit, Mama?" to see if it was an appropriate time to say that. I guess he has been listening to me... and, yes, it was me that accidentally taught him that one.
