I still can't believe we have 3 kids.

Grandma Penny made BYU pajamas for the boys for Christmas. They are the cutest things. Dash has been picking out his outfits lately and he always wants to wear these pants.

Dixon still loves Jacey and helps with her all the time. He holds her as often as he can. He calls her Jace and sings funny songs to her.

Everyone says Dash looks just like me. What they don't realize it that he has Scott's personality. He is happy all the time. He teases Dixon relentlessly. He thinks everything is silly. If I yell at him he smiles or laughs back. And he is the sneakiest little thing ever to live. He fills my day with endless amusement.

It is a pain to carry your lovie around and still be able to play with toys. So Dash has learned to improvise.

This picture makes me want to go stretch out in bed and take a looong nap. It also makes me think of the Tom Petty song "Free Fallin'" for some reason. All that is missing is a chalk outline around her body.

No matter what I do, Jacey's hair ends up standing on end. Straight up. It will not be tamed.

Some Summer Highlights

First of all, I guess I should start by announcing that we are expecting a baby girl in December. I have been really sick so it's been a while since I posted. So here are picures of some summer fun:

At the zoo. I think Dash was on the brink of heat stroke.

Daxton!!! Phillip and Tiffany came to visit for a few weeks. It was soooo fun having them here but I only took a few pictures. Turns out it's kinda hard to monitor 2 kids and take pics at the same time. Hopefully Phillip and Tiffany took some good ones.

Here are some pictures of what we have been doing recently. They are not really in order but I thought they'd still be fun to share.

Dixon and Dash are still best buddies.

Dash is crawling and getting into everything. He army crawls on his belly just like Dixon did! In this picture he is dragging his elephant lovey all over with him.

Dash thinks he is pretty cool when he gets to sit in the cart next to Dixon.

I decided I was only going to give Dash his binki at night and naps. I learned my lesson when he started sucking his thumb!

Scott and I went to Vegas with no kids! Grandma Penny and Aunt Kara watched them for us. Grandma took some great pictures.

Dixon is going through a naked phase. This picture was the result of Grandma Penny trying to reason with him. Sadly, that is much better than I have managed to do with him.

Dixon turned 3!!!!!!! We gave him a Jeep Power Wheel for his birthday. I told him he had to eat breakfast before he could drive it outside. So here he is eating breakfast.

This is Dixon with Anthony Dixon. Yep, he got to meet his namesake! Anthony, Lizzie, and William Dixon came from England for a visit. Dixon kept telling everyone he had 2 mommies. So, to dispell rumors, we are not polygamists!

Again, all smiles. And, yes, I am well aware of how skinny he is.

This is William and Dixon. It was so much fun having William come to play. Dixon is still asking about him!

Dixon got a new bed. Scott and I think Thomas is creepy and ugly. We were outvoted by a two-year-old.

Scott had knee surgery after suffering 7 different injuries, including a torn ACL and a cracked bone. He was at Dixon's mercy.

Dixon put his snakes down for a nap and read them his 3 snake books.

I walked by and decided I had to take some pictures.

Dash started on solids and handled it like a champ. Hardly any mess and ate every drop of his rice cereal.

Holiday MEGAPOST

Well, we survived the holidays! We even got through a bout of strep! We took video footage on Christmas day so we don't have any pictures of the actual day. But we have some others from Christmasey stuff. Here they are:

Dash has decided that not just anyone can hold him. Fortunately, he loves Grandma Joy.

I'm sure someone thought it was a great idea to set up a play-doh table for kids waiting to see Santa. For most kids it probably was. Dixon, however, was supremely annoyed at having to take a break from the play-doh to see Santa. At first when I suggested it, he ran up to Santa and screamed, "Toys!" before running back to the play-doh. I just pretended he belonged to someone else.

We woke Dash up from his nap to see Santa. He was a little spaced but still an angel.

Notice Dixon has his stuffed snake with him. Actually, it belongs to his cousin Bryton. Grandma Joy gave him one but he decided he liked Bryton's better. He didn't let go of it for about a week. So his favorite Christmas gift? a borrowed stuffed snake.

He he he. Yup, it's exactly what it looks like. Scott was trying to film Dixon's reaction to the stuffed snake present when the snake tried to bite him where it counts!

Dash loves Scott the most. I guess he has one flaw after all. Seriously though, Scott got me some really great suprises this year (like always). He got me lots of clothes and a Kindle. I gave him... nothing.

I had to bake a ton of cookies. Dash was my little helper. He sat in his Bumbo and played for hours while I baked.

Every time I looked up at him he gave me a huge smile.

Never to young for morning cartoons. Dixon wants to hold Dash every morning. Since I'm not exactly a morning person, I give little objection.

I have to keep these pictures in case these two ever decide they don't like each other. Right now they love each other like crazy.

We took Dixon to Chuck E. Cheese's. He didn't waste any time before he tried to pick up on chicks. His church girlfriend would not be happy about this!

This is how germs are spread. And this is why you never tell your kid you're getting ready to leave when they are in the top of the play tubes.

Dixon insisted Dash ride with him. Then he was annoyed I was touching Dash. Dash was wondering how he got stuck with such a crazy family.

Dixon figured out the cars drive on their own. He didn't think it was so fun to face the back of the car when he was in his first carseat!

I finally got to meet my brother Phillip's baby Daxton! He was born about 3 weeks after Dash. He is too cute. I am so excited I got to see him in person. I hope Daxton and Dash are buddies growing up. Here are some pictures of them together. Feel free to giggle at the size difference. We did!

I usually prefer these entries to be heavy on pictures and light on words. I have to make an exception on this one. Dixon is officially potty trained. Yeah-didn't think you needed to see pics of that. Anyway, it all began when Dixon started running around naked and bringing me diapers when he needed to go potty. I ran out and checked out about a dozen books on potty training (Typical me, right?) I breezed through them and came to the conclusion that Dixon was not ready. Quite frankly, I didn't think I was ready for the horrors I'd read about. Then a magical thing happened. On a whim, I put Dixon on the potty instead of putting on his diaper when he brought it to me. 3 days later, the kid is house broken. Who knew????? The funny thing is I made it so much more complicated than it needed to be. I made him a cute sticker chart but he only wanted to stick the stickers on Dash and call them "owies." Then I tried giving him an M&M when he used the potty. Wasn't long after that that Buzz Lightyear, a stuffed cat, a few cars, and other random toys suddenly needed to go potty. Of course they each needed a candy reward. How could I say no to that? In the end Dixon didn't need any motivation. He only had 4 accidents. All of them were en route to the potty. So easy clean up. I think what really inspired him was the first time he pooped in the potty. He turned to look at it and his eyes lit up as he yelled out "poopsuhss!" (That's how he says snake.) After that he was so excited to see if his poo would be a poopsnake or pooballs or even a poonana. And you can imagine his delight when he noticed his urine stream was a peesnake. Gotta love this kid!!!
p.s. There is nothing in this world as cute as Dixon in his little underwear.

Our Little Family

Dash had his 2-month check-up. He is doing VERY well. He is in the 91st percentile for height and 50th for weight. Tall and skinny. Weird. He is the best baby. He started sleeping through the night about a week before he turned 2 months. He eats well and never spits up. He hardly ever cries. He doesn't mind tummy time. He started rolling over both directions at 10 weeks. He smiles constantly and loves to tell stories. We are so very very lucky!!!
I decided to post this picture so you can see my perma-red eyes. Sadly it is not Dash causing them but Dixon. He's decided that sleeping at night is over-rated. Scott and I have started considering chloroform. Or horse tranquilizers. It's a good thing he's so cute...

15. He always manages to find the creepiest old man in a store. Then asks him for a doughnut.
14. Every time I turn around he's running around naked.
13. When I put him to bed at night he says "Bye bye Mommy. Bye bye Daddy. Bye bye Baby Dash" as I'm leaving the room.
12. When he sees fish in a tank he says tells me "Nemo fly!"
11. The other day he wiped a booger on me and then said "eewwww Mommy!" while looking at me as though I had contagious leprosy.
10. When I threaten to leave him somewhere he just waves and smiles.
9. During snack time at his play group he announced "Momma toots!" when my chair groaned.
8. To prevent jealousy and, I'll be honest, shut him up, I gave him a baby bottle full of water. He can now shoot water about 3 feet out of that thing. I can't walk down the stairs without being drenched from above.
7. He's the only kid I know of that thinks the evil shadows on The Princess And The Frog are hilarious.
6. He learned to say naughty before he learned to say mommy.
5. He was playing in a ball pit the other day. He took several balls over and laid them carefully on a sleeping Dash. Then he went back to the ball pit and shoved away any kid that came near the balls. I guess he's mastered selective sharing.
4. He woke up his exhausted, bedraggled parents the other night to ask for his Uncle Ryan.
3. He calls Fruit Loops baby doughnuts.
2. He watched ultimate fighting with Daddy. For 3 weeks he acted as though it had never happened. Then one day he sat on my lap and said "fight" while proceeding to use my chest as a double punching bag.
1. After doing something he's not supposed to do like coloring his body with markers from head to toe or dumping out an entire box of macaroni, he looks at me and says "tah duh!!!"

Well, we've survived six weeks with Dash. Dixon still adores him. He's been so sweet to him. Dash still eats really well and sleeps a lot. I'm still adjusting to 2 little ones needing me at the same time. I swear they coordinate their schedules so they get hungry, tired, or just needy at the exact same time.

Dixon has discovered donuts. He asks for one every day.

Never turn away from a loaded baby. One of the nurses that took care of Dash in the hospital told me Dash did the biggest poop she'd every seen from a baby. Pretty impressive coming from a woman that takes care of babies all day. On this day I was changing a full diaper when I got attacked by projectile poop. I thought I'd given him time to finish. Notice Dixon's little hand pointing to the weapon of choice. He thought it was pretty funny.

Dixon got to hang out with his Dunaway cousins. His latest favorite movie: Lilo and Stitch. He wakes up in the morning asking to watch Lilo.

I tend to project on my boys when I'm cold. Dixon can now fight back. Dash is at my mercy.

Farm Day

Dixon and I went to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point for Kids On The Move's Farm Day. We were on a wagon ride in this picture. Don't be fooled by his innocent face. He tried to climb off the side, attack the driver, and throw a stick at the horses.

Dixon got pecked by a turkey and decided the animals were not that cool. So he went and found some creepy man sitting on a bench alone watching families and holding a camera.

Luckily he got distracted by rocks and the hope that where there's a hose, there's water.

He wouldn't look at the camera so I risked life and limb by leaning over the rails to get a face shot. And this is what I get. Could he look any more annoyed by me?

Here Dixon is trying to tell me to go away so he could look at the ducks in peace. 30 seconds later he was trying to throw his shoe in the water.

I snuck some bread in to feed the ducks. I finally got Dixon's attention and thought I was pretty smart. Until I realized Dixon just wanted to eat the bread. They can have his shoe. But not his bread!

Dixon's favorite part. The chicks. Close enough for him to get a good look. But behind glass so they couldn't peck him. All in all, a fun time.

Bathroom Remodel

Scott is remodeling the bathroom. Dixon decided to make a little fort out of the vanity. It started with a comfy chair. Eventually there were about a hundred toys in there and I was no longer allowed in the room.

Dixon turned 2 on May 11th!!! Here are some highlights...

Dixon got a water table from Mom and Dad. Too bad it's been too FREEZING outside to use it.

Grandma and Grandpa Alldredge know Dixon so well. They got him his favorite thing in the world. Balloons. He likes to get the cats to chase the ribbons on the balloons while he runs up and down the halls.

He seriously hasn't let go of these balloons for days. He's learning to do everything one-handed.

One hand to eat with. One hand to hold balloons in a death grip.

Grandma Joy made Dixon his very own cake. She was even nice enough to light the candles and let him blow them out. About 400 times.

Dixon figured being the birthday boy meant he didn't have to wait for us to cut him a piece. So he just dug in!

Here Dixon is relaxing at the end of the day. He's got his balloons, his favorite toy from Grandma and Grandpa Dunaway, and he's watching Bolt. Life is good when you're two.

The other night Dixon was getting over a cold and not sleeping well. He woke up in the middle of the night screaming. Scott and I were both holding our breath and praying he'd go back to sleep when we heard a large slam. We immediately came to the conclusion that Ryan and Kara had had enough and left, slamming the door on their way out. That is until we heard someone trying the door handle in Dixon's room. Turns out Dixon climbed to the top of his crib and jumped over the side, only to discover he was all out of pixie dust. Needless to say, between that and Dixon's typical destructive behavior, he looked like he'd been in a boxing match. I got some really horrible looks when I took him to the store a few days later.

He-Man Woman Hater

Since the day Dixon was born, Scott and I have heard over and over that he is "all boy." As he's gotten older, he has made a real effort to maintain that image. He loves cars, being outside, rough play, etc. I think, however, he may be taking things a little far. He has decided he will not let any woman over the age of 8, including his grandmas or mom, hold him, talk to him, or otherwise socialize with him. On Thanksgiving he made it a point to avoid contact with any of us while he weaved his way to his Grandpa Alldredge. There he begged to be picked up and proceeded to have a grand ol' time laughing and teasing with Grandpa. It must be a guy thing...

Scott and I took Dixon with us to Las Vegas. He never fussed and was a wonderful little traveler. We all had a great time!

Water Fun

Scott, Ryan, and I recently decided to take Dixon out on the boat. We went to Deer Creek and the water was FREEZING. Ryan had to put on a wetsuit and Scott claims that certain parts of his anatomy headed so far north he didn't think they'd return. Dixon kept begging to get in the water so Scott decided to dip his legs in. He figured if Dixon felt how cold it was, he'd be content to stay on the boat. As it turned out, that only increased his obsession. He ended up swimming in the lake and didn't seem to notice the cold at all. We've been taking him to swimming lessons and letting him play in a cheap pool we bought out in the yard. He loves water. He can't get enough and is totally fearless. He loves taking baths and freaks out when we get him out.

As many of you know, Dixon has a mild obsession with paper towels and toilet paper. After months of fighting to keep them away from him, I decided I'd let him get it out of his system. It has only encouraged him. He eats it. He won't eat food, but he'll eat toilet paper?!?

Scott and I got out baby pictures to see who Dixon really looks like. Well, everyone is right. He looks just like Scott. Scott's baby pictures could pass as Dixon. I hope now when the doctor tells us he's too skinny, Scott will stop giving me that "Is this really my kid?" look. The first 2 pics here are Scott. The third is Dixon looking like Scott.

First Steps, First Haircut, First Birthday

It's been a big week for us! Dixon celebrated his birthday. He got a bee cake because he loves the bee on his Baby Einstein movie. He also took his first steps and got his first haircut.

Oh yeah, and I was told by his doctor to try and fatten him up. I'm going to put him on the Homer Simpson weight gaining diet. You know, the one Scott and I are always on...

Helmet Chronicles

The time has FINALLY come. Dixon is officially done with his helmet!!!! After being carried low for weeks, 3 hours stuck in the birth canal, and traumatized neck muscles, Dixon's poor head had no chance. It was flat in the back and on one side. So, at 5 1/2 months, he got his helmet. He's had to wear it 23 hours a day. He never seemed to mind it but his skin didn't take it so well. He had a smelly, blood and puss filled reaction to it. His orthotist thought that he was allergic to the lining in the helmet. So we sent that one back and got a new one. Same problem. Long story short, he was reacting to the alcohol I was using to clean it. The company that makes the helmet claims you have to use alcohol and only alcohol to clean it. According to them, he couldn't be allergic to the alcohol. Idiots. Anyway, after we resolved that issue, Dixon developed nasty smelling orange scales on his head. Fortunately they seemed to protect his head. Unfortunately, they pulled out his hair when I finally did a treatment to get rid of them. His hair is still growing back, mostly on top and by his ears. Cute if you ask Mommy. Hideous if you ask Daddy. But that is all in the past. Just in time for his 1st birthday he is out of the helmet for good!!!!!

Learning to Walk

Dixon is so close to walking. He would probably be walking by now if he didn't try to take off at a run. Baby steps are not his style. Sorry for the poor video quality. I had to sneak up on him with my phone. If he sees or hears the camera, he drops whatever he's doing and crawls over (refer to "Dixon Has Something To Say" video).

Daddy's Boy

As with all babies, Dixon's attention span is short. One day he will love a toy and drag it around everywhere with him. The next day it will be old news. This is true with everything from food choices to games he wants to play. There is, however, one constant obsession: his daddy. When Scott gets home from work, Dixon literally shakes and screams with excitement. Scott can't leave the room without a heartbreaking meltdown. And, much to my constant jealousy, Scott is the only one Dixon will let hold him for more than 30 seconds. He will sit and relax on Scott's lap for ages. The other day Scott was trying to fix something on his fish tank when Dixon crawled up and took him by surprise. Dixon insisted on sitting with Scott throughout the entire project. He was fascinated with the drill but made sure to keep one hand on Scott the entire time, lest Mommy should try to take him away.

A few weeks ago I was putting away laundry and felt my parental "spidey sense" tingle. Sure enough, Dixon had gone silent. This is never a good sign. When I had left him to put the clothes away, Dixon was busily working at moving every toy he owns from his toy box to the bathtub. As any seasoned parent would guess, I found he had abandoned the task to splash away happily in the toilet. Much to Dixon's chagrin, Scott and I have since been very diligent in keeping the toilet lids down. However, as with all criminals and young children, Dixon returned to the scene of the crime to relive his glory. That's when he discovered a new brand of mischief. I think Tickles has taught him some tricks...

Well, I finally kept my promise to Tiffany and started a blog. So hello to all. I really have no idea what I'm doing or how this is supposed to work. But with Dixon growing and changing so fast, I hope this will be a fun way to share our experiences with everyone.
